PIONEER KALL KWIK GETS A DIGITAL FINISH

Kall Kwik Golders GreenWhen Philip Hanbury established his franchise in London’s Golders Green Road twenty eight years ago, his was the very first Kall Kwik operation to open in the UK. During the intervening period, Philip has successfully run no fewer than 7 different Kall Kwik franchises in different parts of London, but for some years now has concentrated on his original business, where he has recently set up a new digital finishing section.

The thriving Golders Green shop has always been firmly based on litho – a new 2-colour Heidelberg PrintMaster has just been installed – but over the last few years it has experienced very rapid growth on the digital side of the business, which is served by a Xerox 250, 252 and 4110. In order to finish output from these systems, Philip Hanbury has just purchased a package of finishing equipment from Morgana, including an AutoCreaser 33, a Docu-Fold folder and a FSN rotary numberer.

Over the counter business still accounts for 50% of this Kall Kwik’s turnover, with the remainder coming from blue chip companies all around London. “Whether it’s personal or corporate work”, Philip Hanbury comments, “there is a big demand for quality short-run colour and personalisation; nearly all of it needed on a 24 or 48-hour turnaround” It is vital, therefore, that finishing equipment is fast to set up and easy to operate, as well as having the ability to cope with the technical demands of finishing digital output. The small footprint of the Morgana equipment is another big advantage in a location where space is at a premium.

“Morgana and myself started in business at much the same time” say Philip Hanbury. "Its products have always performed well for me and I am pleased to support a UK manufacturing company that produces quality equipment.”
