The Soho-based London Digital Printing Group provides an array of sophisticated services, based on the latest digital technology, to both advertising agencies and direct clients. Run by brothers Nicholas and Tim Green, LDPG has three core service divisions – On-Demand, Fashion and Marketing – and operates 24-hours a day and seven days a week to provide the fast turnaround required in the world of digital communication. LPDG is one of the UK’s leading exponents of targeted marketing using advanced personalised direct mail techniques. For LDPG, as Nicholas Green explains, personalisation does not stop at individual names and salutations but includes variable content and images as well. An HP Indigo 3000 is used to produce about 90% of this output, with the remainder printed on a Xeikon Chromapress. The output from both print engines is finished on a recently acquired Morgana DigiFold, which demonstrates the unit’s ability to handle output from ink-based or toner-based systems with equal ease. Designed specifically for the digital print market and combining Morgana’s proven creasing technology with a new patented folding method, the DigiFold’s dual-function capability provides what Nicholas Green describes as a “huge advantage” in speeding throughput. Within a short period it has proved so successful in streamlining LDPG’s digital finishing that the company is now looking to install a second unit. |
