Case StudiesDigiCoater - Print Concern
Switching from laminating to U.V. varnishing is making big savings for specialist property printer Print Concern. Since a Morgana DigiCoater was installed at the company’s Cowley plant, Print Concern’s managing director Tim Underwood reckons that the company makes savings of 4p per double-sided A3 sheet when compared to the laminating system used previously. Just as importantly, Tim Underwood says that clients are perfectly happy with the quality of the finished work which is normally run on 350gsm stock. The significance of the savings has to be seen in the context of an operation that produces between 5,000 and 10,000 property particulars each day, usually in runs from 300 to 350. As an acknowledged leader in its field, 95% of Print Concern’s throughput is for the estate agency market and consists of glossy colour brochures produced on a battery of 7 Xerox 8000s. In addition to the recently installed DigiCoater, other Morgana finishing equipment used by the company includes a DocuMaster bookletmaking system, a DocuFold and an EBA programmatic guillotine. “The switch from laminating to U.V. coating works for us in several ways”, says Tim Underwood. “We get the quality we want at a better price, there is no wastage and, because output is now recyclable and biodegradable, our whole operation is more environmentally friendly.” |
