KB2000NEW MORGANA PERFECT BINDER SUITABLE FOR DIGITAL OUTPUT

Morgana Systems has extended its portfolio of finishing products through the addition of the new KB2000 perfect binder. Capable of producing 320 books per hour, the new binder can handle spine lengths up to 320mm long and 60mm thick and is suitable for a wide range of stock, including digital output that might have fusion oil residues. This was a vital factor for Morgana, who are foremost suppliers of finishing equipment to the digital print sector. “We have been looking for some time to add a perfect binder to our range” said National Sales Manager, John Clason, “and this is the first time we have found one that we can happily recommend for use with digitally printed stock.”

The Morgana KB2000 produces particularly strong bindings thanks to a new method of spine preparation, which involves making minute slits in the material in order to allow the glue to penetrate more deeply. The glue assembly consists of 2 rollers that apply a clean layer of hot-melt adhesive and a doctor roller is then employed to provide a smooth, professional finish. A side glue guide system is also incorporated.

Pneumatic action is used both to form the book covers and in the clamping system that holds the sheets firmly in place during the binding process. The power of the cover forming action means that no pre-creasing is required except when very heavy stock is being used. Automatic operation of the new binder is via a simple-to-use control panel and no special operator skills are required.
