NewsGP invests in finishing for growth02-10-2009 Investment in finishing is seen as the way forward for GP Print of Peterborough which has just installed a DigiCoater UV coater, a DigiFold 5000P creaser/folder and a KB2000 perfect binder from Morgana Systems. This follows the purchase, a few months ago, of a CardXtra, a Foldnak bookletmaker and a collator from the same company.Primarily a trade print operation, GP Print has taken the view that in the current climate investment in finishing is the best way towards achieving the ambitious growth targets it has set itself for 2009.
“Our decision”, says partner Peter Martyr, “has been vindicated by an encouraging uplift in business from customers who want to add value to their products through a range of finishing options. Naturally, it also streamlines finishing the output from our own Heidelberg 2 and 4-colour presses and our Presstek 34 DI as well.
GP is especially hopeful that the micro-format DigiCoater will add a further revenue stream both by improving the quality of its finished work and by offering a greener alternative to laminating as output from the coater is both recyclable and biodegradable. |
